Happy new year to my vintage customers and readers! With a new year brings fresh beginnings of all different kinds. Not only do I get the itch to start a good wardrobe clean out to toss out the old and add some new things, but with all the January sales its hard to go past snapping up some cute new boots and vintage inspired heels.
My first blog post of the year will be to share with you some of my favorite shoe websites for those wanting to finish off that outfit with a little bit of vintage inspiration. I find an oxford shoe, brogue or cute Maryjane the perfect style of shoe to finish off any outfit. Even a modern blouse, jeans can be spruced up with some unusual vintage shoes.
So here is a little list of some great websites to visit for those unusual vintage kicks:
Baitfootwear - https://www.baitfootwear.com/
Baitfootwear are an LA Based company, which specialize in 1940's,1950's, and 1960's block color heels, sandals for the Spring and Summer months and in the winter months, they do a great selection of granny boots, mod boots and winter heels in darker colors. I find that they run slightly small in size so I go up 1/2 size when ordering from them. They also have an Instagram account for their seconds... where they sell off shoes which didn't quite pass inspection (could be because of scuffs or marks or missing a detail/stitching) usually for half the price. You can follow @shopbaitfootwearboutique on Instagram and wait for them to announce their Instagram sales.
Restricted Shoes - http://www.restrictedshoes.com/
I've found some really comfortable oxford style footwear through Restricted shoes. They mix adorable fabric pints like polka dots and combine them with great faux leather fabrics to make up their designs. A recent chocolate and black pair of oxfords I bought from them even had Lindy Hop soles so perfect for those dancers out there. They also carry some really sweet heels/pumps which have a 1940s vibe but in modern colors. Reasonably priced too and if you catch the right time of year, some excellent discounts too.
Chelsea Crew - http://www.chelseacrew.com/
These guys carry a great range of shoes, however the link above will take you to their Las Vegas wholesale website. If you want to browse an online store which stock this brand I recommend Shoegasm a New York online shoe boutique. You'll see vintage inspired block heels, Victorian style booties, heeled brogues and a few other vintage inspired shoes. They ship all around the US and host a range of other great brands like Minnetoka, Converse and Sperry too.
Ruby Shoo - https://www.rubyshoo.com/
Ruby shoo is an upper price point shoe brand which pride themselves on quality and unique vintage heel styles. Even though Modcloth carry a few styles of theirs here and there, it pays to shop directly on their website to see whether the pound to USD conversion works out better favorably. The styles are reminiscent of the 1930's and 40's with adorable flower and textured fabric detail. Mary Jane style is amongst the most popular of styles with some beautiful Victorian style granny boots with ribbon laces. I feel the Ruby Shoo brand is the most delicate and fancy of the shoe brands I've mentioned.
Average price is around $50 - $70 USD and ships from the UK.
